Tower 1
Tower 1
Tower 1 is a 2003 Pierce aerial platform truck designed to support aerial firefighting, elevated master stream operations, and aerial rescue incidents. The apparatus features a 100-foot aerial platform, providing crews with safe and effective access to elevated work areas during a wide range of emergency responses.
The platform is equipped with two 1,000 GPM master-stream nozzles mounted on the front of the platform, one of which can be remotely operated, allowing for precise water application during fire suppression operations. Tower 1 is further equipped with a 2,000 GPM pump and a 300-gallon water tank, supporting initial fire attack and sustained aerial operations when supplied by a water source.
Tower 1 is capable of handling a variety of emergency situations, including aerial fire attack, elevated rescues, and firefighter rescue operations. The apparatus carries a Rapid Intervention Team (RIT) pack, enhancing firefighter safety during interior operations.
Additional equipment includes ventilation fans, scene lighting, life-safety rope and rigging accessories, a variety of fire extinguishers, ground ladders, and a wide selection of firefighting and hand tools. Tower 1 also carries a substantial amount of 5-inch supply line, ensuring efficient water delivery to support high-flow aerial operations.
The apparatus was purchased by the Fire Company in 2004 as a demonstration unit from Pierce and is configured to carry four firefighters, one officer, and an engineer, providing a full and capable crew for complex incidents.
Tower 1 serves as a critical component of the department’s aerial operations and high-rise response capabilities, significantly enhancing fire suppression and rescue operations throughout the district and mutual aid areas.
