Utility 181 – Traffic Control Unit
Utility 181 is a 1996 Ford F-250 pickup truck designated as the department’s Traffic Control Unit, designed to support scene safety, traffic management, and roadway incident operations. Its size and versatility allow for rapid deployment to incidents requiring lane control and traffic flow management.
The unit is equipped with a variety of traffic control devices, including traffic cones and a mounted arrow board, allowing crews to establish safe work zones and provide clear directional guidance to motorists at emergency scenes.
Utility 181 plays a critical role in enhancing firefighter and responder safety by reducing the risk of secondary accidents and supporting efficient operations at roadway incidents, fires, and other emergency responses.
