PCVFC Alerted for Two Local Incidents Tuesday Afternoon
Tuesday, March 31, 2026

At 3:24 PM, the Pocomoke City Vol. Fire Co. and supporting agencies were alerted for a sunken sailboat at the dock along Riverside Drive. The boat had an active fuel leak, requiring a response from the Worcester County Hazmat team. Chief Denston, Command 1-2, along with Rescue Boat 1 responded. Rescue Boat 1 launched from the Laurel Street Boat Dock and placed floating booms around the boat to contain and absorb any leaking fuel. All units cleared at 4:40 PM.

The Worcester County Hazmat team is comprised of members of various fire companies throughout the county and includes all members of the Fire Marshal’s Office which also oversees and leads the team.

While that incident was being mitigated, at 4:12 PM, Pocomoke Fire units were alerted for a brush fire in the 2800 block of Worcester Highway. Engine 102, Brush 1, and Tanker 1 responded and extinguished two separate fires along the roadway.
