Kitchen Fire Quickly Contained on Fourth Street
Saturday, June 20, 2026

Worcester Co., MD - On June 20, 2026, at 8:01 a.m., the Pocomoke City Volunteer Fire Company and mutual aid companies were alerted for a residential structure fire in the 400 block of Fourth Street.
Pocomoke City Emergency Medical Services arrived on the scene to find smoke showing from the rear of a two-story residence. A fire was located in the kitchen and contained to the stove and adjoining cabinets.
The fire was extinguished by EMS personnel with a portable fire extinguisher prior to the arrival of fire apparatus. Firefighters removed the stove and conducted brief overhaul of the involved area to ensure complete extinguishment. Ventilation of the structure to clear residual smoke from the residence was also completed.
The Worcester County Fire Marshal’s Office responded to investigate the incident.
Chief Eric Denston had command of the incident.
No injuries were reported.
